So… the next instalment of Grunberg & Co.’s incredible journey - supporting Miracles throughout 2019. Not content with cake sales, cheese and wine parties, marathons, bike rides and abseiling the O2 (see previous blogs) - seven more Grunberg & Co employees, loyal and committed Miracles supporters, decided to raise funds by jumping out of an aeroplane 13,000 feet above the ground!!!!
Amazing people doing amazing things – it’s what Miracles is all about. Thank you all at Grunberg & Co - you do so much for us. If you would like to do something similar for Miracles then write to us here - for more detail about the people we support visit our Miracles in Action pages.
We asked them to describe how it felt – here’s what they told us:
Rudy:
With blue skies and a few clouds, it was perfect conditions for this challenge. After a brief explanation by an instructor of what will happen on the day and how we needed to position ourselves during our jump (and reminding us to eat something if we hadn’t already so that we don’t faint when we’re hanging out the lane for the adrenaline rush) we were whisked away to get strapped into our jump suits and harnesses. After a 10-minute flight, and coasting above the clouds at 13,000ft, the hatch in the tiny propeller plane was rolled up with the wind rushing by and a view of the ground, very, very, far below! It wouldn’t have been such a bad view, except for the knowledge we were soon going to falling at 120mph towards the ground and hoping that nothing went wrong! Fortunately, the only thig that happened was everything went without a hitch, and the rush of the freefall and canopy descent was unbelievable. Landing safely on the ground, I was extremely proud and honoured to be able to take part in this exhilarating challenge to raise funds for Miracles and the amazing work they do. A massive thank you too to everyone who generously supported our skydiving team!
Ollie:
It was a crazy and exhilarating experience. I was surprisingly not as nervous as I thought I would be. It’s unlike anything else I’ve ever done in my life. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to try it.
The day was even more enjoyable knowing that we had raised a significant sum of money for Miracles and we were doing it for a charitable cause.
Cameron:
The best experience in my life. To be able to touch the clouds and feel the thrill of falling from a plane was indescribable. Very glad to have done this as well as raising money for Miracles at the same time.
Hibo:
I loved doing the skydive and can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. The jump itself was exhilarating. Once I was out on a free fall the intense adrenaline kicked in. I have never had such a feeling before. The view from up there was obviously breath taking!
